2010-2011 NBA Rookie of the Year Odds & Predictions
The 2010-2011 NBA basketball season is about to get underway and it’s time to make your NBA futures wagers. One of the most popular futures wagers in the NBA is betting on which rookie you think is going to win the Rookie of the Year award. There are several rookies this season that have an excellent chance at winning the award and I’m going to list the players I think have the best chance.
Bookmaker.com is the best online sportsbook for NBA futures bets.
John Wall +200
John Wall was expected to be drafted 1st overall this year and the Washington Wizards decided that it was the right decision and drafted Wall with their 1st pick. Wall played 4 games in summer league play during the off-season and definitely showed everyone why he was drafted 1st overall. Wall led the summer league in both points (23.5) and assists (7.8) per game, but he did have some problems with turnovers and his shooting percentage.
DeMarcus Cousins +800
The latest sports betting lines don’t think that Cousins has much of a chance of winning the rookie of the year award this season, but I think otherwise and will definitely be betting a bit on him with these odds. Cousins has been doing great in summer league action and led the league in rebounds with an average of 9.8 per game. He did have some trouble putting the basketball into the basket, but he’ll have plenty of time to work on his shooting this season. DeMarcus was drafted 5th overall by the Sacramento Kings and should be a nice addition alongside Tyreke Evans.
Wesley Johnson +800
Wesley Johnson was drafted 4th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in this year’s draft and should see plenty of time on the court this season with a team that is rebuilding. Johnson has the potential to be the best player to come out of this draft with a lot of work, but it may take a couple years before we see him in his prime. If you don’t think Cousins has a chance at winning the award this season, Wesley is a great alternative and currently both players are +800.
Blake Griffin +200
Most experts expect Blake Griffin to give John Wall a run for his money this year for rookie of the year. Griffin was drafted in 2009, but sat out the entire last season because of an injury during the preseason. Griffin was drafted 1st overall in 2009 by the Clippers, which isn’t going to help him out while trying to earn ROTY honors. The Clippers are a struggling team and they haven’t done anything to land any big superstars. Griffin was a dominant force in college, but it has yet to be seen if he can be as dominate playing against the best players in the world.
My Picks for the 2010-2011 NBA Rookie of the Year
I’m going to be betting on DeMarcus Cousins to win the rookie of the year award this season with the Kings. Tyreke Evans just won the award last season with the Kings and they made another great draft pick this year. I’m also going to bet on John Wall because I think if Cousins loses, Wall will win the award. I’ll only break even on the Wall wager if he wins, but that’s the entire reason why I’m betting on him.
