Types of Football Bets

Football is a lot different than most other sports we have because you can have a draw in football. You have three options on a straight wager which include picking one of the two teams to win, or a draw.

If you want to avoid betting on a draw then you can bet on the Asian handicap odds if your bookmaker offers them. In this type of bet the bookmaker will assign a spread to the game and take away the possibility of a draw. You’ll find that the spreads vary from 0.5 goals to 3 goals depending on how much better the favored team is over the underdog.

All football games will have over/under bets that you can make on the full match or half. Most football games are low scoring and therefore you won’t normally see over/under totals that exceed 3-4 goals.

You can place several types of football prop bets at most bookmakers. Football prop bets include picking the player that will score the first goal, determining the time of the first goal, over/under on amount of yellow/red cards and many others. These bets are more based on luck than the other bets and I would avoid them unless you really think there is a strong chance of winning the bet.

Most football leagues will allow you to wager on futures such as determining league champions and more. Football futures bets take the entire season to complete and most people tend to stay away from them until they’ve built up a fairly large bankroll.
