UFC 131 Betting Lines
UFC 131 is on it’s way, scheduled for Saturday, June 11th at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC.
The main event will be featuring heavyweights Junior Dos Santos (12-1) vs Shane Carwin (12-1) for the #1 contender spot in the heavyweight division. Carwin is filling in for Brock Lesnar who had to pull out because of another bout with diverticulitis. While it isn’t the matchup we wanted, this Dos Santos vs. Carwin match should be fun to watch.
All of the big MMA gambling sites are predicting Dos Santos will try to out-box Carwin, and for Carwin take the match to the ground. In the end, I expect to see the younger, faster Dos Santos prevail in a unanimous decision. I don’t see a knockout happening in this fight.
At the time of this writing, Dos Santos comes in as the favorite, listed at -175 at the Bodog Sportsbook. If you live in the U.S. and are looking to bet on this fight, Bodog is the best place to bet at. They still accept Visa credit & debit cards, and are one of the best books in the world. If you live outside the U.S. we recommend Bodog and Bet365.

UFC 131 Florian vs. Nunes Prediction
For pure excitement purposes, I’m looking forward to the Kenny Florian (15-5) vs. Diego Nunes (16-1) featherweight matchup. With little to no chance of getting the lightweight division title, Florian is moving down to featherweight where his length and size could lead him to a title fight in short time. At 5’10” tall, Florian will have a significant height advantage over Nunes, who stands at 5’6″.
Florian is 34 years old, while Nunes is 28. Nunes will try to use his excellent standup game against the ground game and elbows of Florian. In the end, I expect Florian’s size and jiu-jitsu to overcome the younger Nunes. By fight time, Florian will likely come in 10-12 lbs bigger than Nunes, and he’s clearly on a mission to get a title. I don’t think Nunes is the man to stop him.
Right now, Kenny Florian comes in as a pretty big favorite, listed at -265 at Bodog. If you prefer Nunes, you can get +205 right now, not a bad value for a small wager. I prefer Florian, but I’m hoping to see something closer to -235 before fight time.
