2011 BCS College Football Futures Betting
With the 2010 – 2011 NCAA college football season right around the corner, it’s time to start looking at some future bets. One of the best futures bets in NCAA football is to take the team you think is going to win the BCS National Championship. Last year we got to watch the Alabama Crimson Tide defeat the Texas Longhorns by a score of 37-21.
The spotlight was on the Crimson Tide running backs Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson last year, as they each scored two running touchdowns in the game. Jordan Shipley a WR for the Longhorns also scored two touchdowns, but it wasn’t noticed as much due to the fact Texas lost the game.
This year I expect to see at least one different team in the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. Alabama still has a great team and could definitely make it to the big game again this year, but I can’t see the Longhorns making it after all of the changes they have made to make to the team.
Potential 2011 BCS Champions
- (Alabama +600) The defending champions, Alabama, definitely have a great shot at making it to the big game again this year. They return most of their star players including Jones, Ingram, Richardson and McElroy. Alabama has a fairly tough schedule to contend with this year though, which could pose a problem for them.
- (Oklahoma +500) I don’t see much value in betting Oklahoma this year at only +500 and I’m actually a little baffled by the odds on them right now. The Sooners have lost QB Sam Bradford, OT Trent Williams and DT Gerald McCoy among quite a few other players this season. With so many great players moving onto the NFL it’ll be interesting to see how the Sooners can deal with so many new players. The good thing for the Sooners is that their schedule is easier then some of the other top teams this year.
- (Florida +600) Urban Meyer always puts a great team on the field and I don’t think this year will be any different. The Gators did lose Tim Tebow among a few other notable players to the NFL this year, but they have tons of talent in reserves that we’ll get to see this season. If Urban can work his magic in Florida this season then I think they’ll contend for the BCA National Championship. There will be a ton of pressure on QB John Brantley, but from what I’ve seen on video I think he’ll do just fine, especially with the help he’s going to receive from his RB’s.
- (Miami +2000) Miami is a bit of a long shot this season to win the BCA National Championship, but there is no doubt that they have the talent to win. Many of the team’s best players will be returning this season and they should have lots of chemistry between each other. QB Jacory Harris and RB Graig Cooper will handle most of the load on offense this season and I expect big numbers from them. Miami could go undefeated this year, but they’ll need to win some key match-ups against teams like Ohio St., Florida St. and Virginia Tech.
