Latest Rams at Giants Betting Lines: Week 2, 2011
Giants vs. Rams Analysis & Prediction
Last year the Giants ranked in the top 10 in offense and defense, while the Rams ranked 26th on offense and 19th on defense. Neither of these teams looked good in week 1, and the Rams offense took a couple of hits in the injury department.
It looks like the Giants will have DE Justin Tuck back for week 2. WR Hakeem Nicks is currently listed as questionable, but we expect to see him on the field on Monday Night.
Giants QB Eli Manning had a disappointing game in week 1 against the Washington Redskins. He went 18-32 for 268 yards, 1 INT, 0 TD’s, and was sacked 4 times. Manning will need better protection from his offensive line, and the Giants will need to convert more 3rd downs. While the Giants were weak in several areas against the Redskins, their biggest failure was in 3rd down opportunities when they converted a paltry 1 of 10. Stating the obvious, this will not win games in the NFL.
The St. Louis Rams would’ve had the advantage on the ground, but RB Steven Jackson suffered a strained quad in week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He isn’t likely to play in this week 2 game.
According to Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo, WR Danny Amendola is “definitely” out as well, suffering a dislocated elbow in week 1. As if that’s not enough, QB Sam Bradford is listed as questionable at the time of this writing. He took an injury to the right index finger of his throwing hand against the Eagles. We’ll keep you updated when we have more solid information about this.
Playing at home against the Rams without Steven Jackson and Danny Amendola, the Giants should be able to take this game. However, the Giants didn’t impress us in week 1, so we aren’t expecting a blowout.
Rams vs. Giants Point Spread
Last year the Giants were only 5-3 at home, but the Rams struggled on the road. Without Jackson and Amendola, I don’t like the Rams chances in this road game. They were 2-6 on the road last year, and now they’ll be without their biggest offensive weapons. They only managed 13 points against the Philadelphia Eagles in week 1, so everything is pointing to a win for the Giants. I think the Giants cover the spread and take this game by 6+.
I’m betting on the NY Giants at -4.5 (-110) at BetOnline.com.
Giants vs. Rams Money Line Odds
The Giants money line is currently -210 at BetOnline. Playing at home in New York is a significant advantage for the Giants. While I’m picking the Giants to take this game by 6+, I’ll be betting the point spread instead of the money line. The spread is -4.5 (-110) for the Giants right now, so I see more value in -110 and giving up the points than taking -210 on the money line.
If you like the Rams to win outright, you can get them at +180 at BetOnline. At the time of this writing, the Bodog Sportsbook has yet to post their money lines. See the chart above for all of the latest betting odds on this Rams vs. Giants matchup.
Rams vs. Giants Over/Under (Total) Betting Odds
With a depleted Rams offense and weak performance against the Eagles, I’m not expecting as much from the Rams as most people are. The Giants only posted 14 points against the Redskins in week 1, all in the first half. I’m expecting a score in the range of 21-13 to 24-17, both of which are under the current total of 43.5. So, I’ll be taking the under in this game.
At the time this article is being written, Bodog hasn’t posted their Rams vs. Giants over/under odds. The chart above will update when the over/under is available.
Bet on St. Louis Rams vs. New York Giants
As mentioned above, I’ve bet on the Giants -4.5 (-110) on the point spread, and I’m staying away from the money line. On the total, I’m taking the under, expecting a total of 41 or less. If there are any injury updates or major news on these teams between now and game time, we’ll update this post.
