UEFA Champions League – Matchday 5
The UEFA Champions League Group Stage has been running for almost two months now and this past week was matchday 4. The powerhouse teams are doing well for the most part although there have been a few surprises already. One of those surprises was this past week on matchday 4 when Tottenham beat Internazionale 3-1. Tottenham has been doing great in Group A due to the wide-open game they play. There has been no shortage of goals in any of the Tottenham games thus far, so if you enjoy watching soccer games with lots of scoring I’d advise you to watch the upcoming Tottenham games.
Matchday 5 Best Bets
- Real Madrid CF +120 vs. Ajax +225 Draw +250 (Pick – Real Madrid CF +120)
Real Madrid is currently sitting with a 3-1-0 record while Ajax is 1-1-2 in Group C. These two teams meet on the 23rd of this month and I’m taking Real Madrid CF. The odds are fairly good right now, so if you’re thinking about taking Madrid I’d bet on them soon before the odds start going up due to the public. Real Madrid has scored 7 goals and only conceded 2 over the first 4 group stage games and I can’t see them letting up against Ajax.
- FC Bayern Munchen +250 vs. AS Roma +100 Draw +100 (Pick – Draw +100)
FC Bayern Munchen has already locked up first spot in Group E, as they already have 12 out of a possible 12 points. They’ll definitely sit players in this match against AS Roma, which will give Roma a great shot at winning the game. I’m personally taking a draw in this game, as I can see the game finishing 1-1 or 2-2. Roma has been giving up a lot of goals so far in group stage play, so I don’t think Bayern Munchen is going to have a problem scoring a goal or two even if they play bench players.
- Rangers +300 vs. Manchester United +112 Draw +245
The Rangers take on Manchester United on matchday 5 and I’m taking Man U to win the game outright. They haven’t locked up a spot in the knockout phase yet, but if they beat the Rangers then they will have. I think Manchester United will come out quickly in this match-up and get up by 1-2 goals in the 1st half. From there they should sit back and start playing defense to hang onto a small victory against the Rangers. They have too much power and since the game is important they won’t be taking it lightly. The game could end in a draw since that would also guarantee Manchester a spot in the next stage, but my moneys on them winning the game and gaining confidence for the knockout rounds.
There are 16 matches to bet on for matchday 5, but these are the best bets in my opinion without paying juice. I hate paying juice in soccer since most of the favorites offer terrible odds. Matchday 5 games will be played November 23rd and November 24th, so you still have a few weeks to handicap all of the games and find the best bets.
