Saints vs. Bears Analysis & Prediction
The Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints both made the playoffs last season and will look to do the same again this year. The Bears didn’t have a good offensive attack last season and they’ll need to work on that in the early weeks this year. However, Chicago always has one of the best defenses, as was the case again last season. New Orleans has a great offense, and last season they also had the 6th best defense in the NFL.
Last season, the Chicago Bears ranked 20th at stopping the pass, and that’s where the Saints offense excels. That spells trouble for the Bears in this game, as they’re going to have a hard time stopping the passing attack of Drew Brees. Forte is going to have to have a big game against the Saints if the Bears want to have a legitimate shot at winning the game. Cutler is going to have trouble finding open receivers, as the Saints are solid at stopping the pass.
Chicago Bears vs. New Orleans Saints Point Spread
At the time of this writing, the BetOnline Sportsbook has the New Orleans Saints favored at -6.5 (-110) on the point spread and +250 on the money line. Refer to the chart above for the latest betting odds, or our week 2 page for all of the latest football betting odds.
I like the Saints to win this game by a touchdown, so I’m satisfied with -6.5 (-110). Saints QB Drew Brees should pass for at least 3 TD’s in the game and that alone could be enough to cover the point spread.
Chicago is an average team that seems to do everything ‘okay’, but they aren’t a top team in my opinion. Once again, New Orleans is one of the best teams in the league and I think they’ll have another big year. Reggie Bush is no longer a part of the Saints team, essentially replaced by Darren Sproles. The Saints WR’s, TE’s, rookie runningback Mark Ingram, RB Pierre Thomas, and Sproles give the Saints a lot of options to mix it up and keep defenses on their toes. The Saints will get their points.
I’m betting on the New Orleans Saints at -6.5 (-110) at BetOnline.com.
Saints vs. Bears Money Line
I won’t be betting the Bears vs. Saints money line in this game, but I’ll add this one to my parlay ticket this week. Playing at home, I’m really confident that the Saints will take this one, and I can add some value to a parlay with this game. BetOnline has the best parlay odds for US friendly sportsbooks. Bears vs. Saints Total (Over/Under) Betting Odds
The current Bears vs. Saints over/under is 47 (-110) at BetOnline and Bodog. Even with the potent offense of New Orleans, I don’t see either team having an offensive explosion. The Saints will get their points, but the Bears defense could turn some would-be TD’s into field goals.
I’m expecting a game in the 27-13 to 30-17 range, which give us more potential totals under 47. However, I’ll be waiting until later in the week to see where the over/under goes as we get closer to game time. I’ll update this post when I make a final prediction for the over/under.
Bet on Chicago Bears vs. New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are tough at home, and I’m expecting them to make the playoffs again this season. To do that, they’ll need to beat teams like the Chicago Bears. Drew Brees should come out firing, and his running game could cause problems for the Bears defense. I’m expecting a win of at least 1 TD by the Saints, so I’ll bet on them at -6.5 (-110) at BetOnline on the spread.
I won’t bet on the money line, but I recommend adding this game to a parlay ticket. For the total, I’ll likely take the under, but I’m not completely sold on that yet. I’ll update this article when I’ve made my final prediction.
