Both of these defenses are very strong, especially the Texans defense. Houston gave up just 17.4 ppg in the 2011 – 2012 regular season, compared to 20.2 ppg for the Bengals.

The Texans have scored and average of 23.8 ppg, while the Bengals have scored 21.5 ppg. Combined, they’re scoring 45.3 ppg, and giving up 37.6 ppg.

I think the Bengals could have a tough time scoring against the Texans on Saturday. I’m expecting them to score 13-17 total points. The Texans are playing a tough Bengals defense as well, but their superior offense should get the advantage. I expect Arian Foster and Ben Tate to take control of the game, eating a lot of time off the clock. On paper, the Texans should be good for 17-21 points, and possibly more.

On the low end, I’m expecting a total of 30 points. On the high end, I think we could see 38-41 points. Defenses usually step it up in the playoffs, and I think the Texans D will be especially effective. I see more scores going to the under on this one, so I’m taking the under at 38.5 (-110) at BetOnline.com.
