The Kansas City Chiefs got crushed 41-7 at home by the Buffalo Bills in week 1, while the Detroit Lions took a nice road win in Tampa Bay. The Lions won 27-20 behind a good day from QB Matt Stafford who went 24/33 for 305 yards and 3 TD’s. Playing at home, the Lions are huge favorites going into this game.

Matt Stafford should have a big game throwing against the Chiefs defense at home in this week 2 game. Their defense is greatly improved this year as well. The Chiefs didn’t show us anything last week to give us reason to believe they can win this game, and they could get rolled against the Lions.

I’ll probably wait to see if I can get -7 or -7.5 on the Lions point spread before I place a bet, but if I can’t, I’m hoping -8 will still be available at Bodog. I don’t like the Chiefs chances in this game, and I’ll take them at -8 if I have to. I don’t see value in either of the money lines. Too many crazy things happen in football to justify -370 on the Lions, and +310 on the Chiefs isn’t enough quite enough to convince me either. If the Chiefs get to +340 or better, I might make a small bet on them instead of taking the Lions on the spread, but I’ll have to wait a couple more days to see where the lines are going.

Chiefs vs. Lions Over/Under Betting Odds

This is a tough over/under to predict because I figure the week 1 game for the Chiefs to be a bit of a fluke. With a total currently at 45 (-110), I think I’ll be taking the under, hoping for a score in the 27-14 range. Even 27-17 gives us a win on the under, and I think of score of that or lower is very possible.
