The Dallas Cowboys (0-1) gave away a win against the New York Jets in week 1, while the San Francisco 49ers (1-0) romped the Seahawks 33-17. Although QB Tony Romo choked late in the game against the Jets, the Cowboys head to San Francisco as 3-point favorites in this week 2 game.

49ers vs. Cowboys Game Analysis & Prediction
Both of these teams finished last season with 6-10 records. I don’t see much improvement coming from the 49ers this season, but the Cowboys should have a better year if Tony Romo can remain healthy. San Francisco is usually a tough opponent when they play at home and this could be a difficult game for the Cowboys. Dallas was a strong offensive team last year without Romo, so in theory they should improve this season.
Last year, the 49ers defense was solid against the run, but they couldn’t stop the pass. Look for Tony Romo to spread the ball around in this game and pick apart the 49ers secondary. Dallas runningback Felix Jones may have a bad day, but Romo should have time in the pocket to make better decisions than he did late against the Jets.
49ers quarterback Alex Smith doesn’t perform well under pressure, and if the Cowboys jump out to an early lead this game could get away from the Niners.
Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers Point Spread
At the BetOnline Sportsbook, the Dallas Cowboys are favored by -3 (-120) on the point spread. The best line on the Niners is +3 (+110) at Bodog.
I like Dallas in this game for their passing attack and stout rushing defense. I expect the Cowboys offense to be more effective at putting points on the board, although I’d rather get them at -2.5. I’ll wait until we get closer to game time before placing a point spread bet, hoping the public prefers the home team.
49ers vs. Cowboys Money Line
Currently, the Cowboys money line is -170 at BetOnline, or bettors can get +150 on the 49ers. At the time of this writing, Bodog hasn’t posted their week 2 money lines. When they become available, they’ll be shown in the table above.
I like the Cowboys to win outright, but I’d like to see them around -150 to -160 instead of their current -170. I’m not sure the line will move in that direction, but we’ll have to wait and see. If the public prefers the home team, +150 might be the best 49ers money line we’ll get.
Cowboys vs. 49’ers Total (Over/Under) Betting Odds
The latest total at BetOnline is 42 (-110) on either side. At Bodog, we can get 43 (-105) on the over, or 43 (-115) on the under.
I’m expecting the Cowboys to be good for 21-27 points in this game, and the 49ers to put up 17-21. So, based on my prediction, we’re looking at a game in the 38-48 range. This gives us five under totals at Bodog, and 6 over totals at BetOnline. So, I’ll bet over at 42 (-110) at BetOnline.
Bet on Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49’ers
The San Francisco 49ers are tough when they’re playing at home and this game could go either way. Romo will need to make good decisions, and an effective running game could be the difference.
I’m looking for -2.5 on the Cowboys before I’ll bet on the point spread (I may not get it). I like the Cowboys on the money line, but want to see if I can get better odds (-150 to -160) before I place my bet. San Francisco might win ATS, but I don’t see them winning the game outright. The over/under is a close one, but I have a slight edge on the over.
