The Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) and Atlanta Falcons (0-1) will meet in the week 2, Sunday night football game. The Falcons host the Eagles at the Georgia Dome where they’ve dominated most opponents in recent years. For money line bets, Atlanta is a tough team to bet against. They finished last year with a 7-1 home record, and 5-3 against the spread. Both teams have capable passing attacks, but I expect to see more ground & pound in this one.

Falcons vs. Eagles Analysis & Prediction

Eagles RB LeSean McCoy and Falcons RB Michael Turner should be heavily utilized in this Sunday night matchup. Last season, the Falcons had the 10th best rushing defense while the Eagles were 14th best, so running room might be limited.

Neither team was great at stopping the pass last season, but the Eagles have greatly improved in that area. I look for both teams to take their shots in this game, but the Eagles passing offense to be more effective than the Falcons. For this to happen, Michael Vick will need a better performance than he had in week 1 against the Rams. While he threw for 2 TD’s, he was only 14-32 for 187 yards. If the Eagles can get a quick lead, I suspect they’ll look for McCoy to eat up a lot of minutes.

The Eagles have an amazing secondary and will look to stop the passing attack of the Falcons offense. However, Michael Turner should be able to pick up some hard earned yards, especially late in the game. If the game is close heading into the 4th quarter, I like the Falcons chances to wear down the Eagles rushing defense and create some opportunities for Ryan’s passing game.

At BetOnline, the Philadelphia Eagles are favored to win, at -3 (+105) right now. Bettors can get +3 (-125) on the Falcons point spread.

I like the Falcons at home, but I want to see where the spread is headed before making my pick. If I can get +3.5 (-110) or better, I like the Falcons to cover the point spread. Under that, I think I prefer the Eagles. Again, we’ll talk about this more as we get closer to the start of the game.

The public is likely to bet the spread up in this game and I’d wait until the last minute if you’re betting on the Falcons. I suspect we’ll get another point or two as we get closer to game time.

Falcons vs. Eagles Money Line

The Eagles vs. Falcons money line is close right now, at -135 for the Eagles and +115 on the Falcons. For the Eagles, this might be the best money line we’ll see. I suspect the Eagles to become bigger favorites as we get closer to game time, and I’ll be watching for +125 to +145 on the Falcons. If I can get +140 or better on the Falcons money line, it will be hard not to take that bet.

Both of these teams can put up points and their offenses will have 1 game under their belts. Weather won’t be an issue since the game is being played at the Georgia Dome. At 49 points, this is the highest total on the board in week 2.

At 49 or higher, I’ll be betting on the under. I think we’ll see some big stops on defense for both teams, with field goals replacing a few touchdowns.

With a spread of exactly 3 points (and +105), I prefer the Eagles on the spread. At +3.5 (-110) or better, I’ll bet on the Falcons. I also like the Falcons money line if it gets to +135 or better. For the total, I’ll be taking the under as long as it stays at or above 49. If it goes to 47 or lower (doubtful), I’ll bet the over.
