F1 Drivers Championship Futures Betting
Below is our article for the 2010 F1 Drivers Championship. Once futures odds for the 2011 F1 season come out, we’ll update this post with lines from the top online sportsbooks.
We’re heading into the final stretch of the 2010 F1 season and if you haven’t bet on the driver that you think is going to walk away with the Drivers Championship, you’re almost too late. Thankfully a few online bookmakers still have F1 betting lines available on this futures bet and in my opinion there’s some easy money on the table. You aren’t going to make much with this bet, but you’ll be able to add an extra unit or two to your bankroll.
2010 F1 Drivers Championship Point Race
There are only 3 races left in the 2010 F1 season and only 5 racers have a chance at winning the Drivers Championship. I have already placed my wager on Mark Webber, but you can bet on whomever you think has the best chance. Let’s quickly take a look at the drivers that still have a chance to win the Drivers Championship along with how many points they have in the standings.
• Mark Webber – 220 Points
• Fernando Alonso – 206 Points
• Sebastian Vettel – 206 Points
• Lewis Hamilton – 192 Points
• Jenson Button – 189 Points
Mark Webber has a pretty decent lead heading into the final 3 races, but he has been slipping in the standings lately. Webber hasn’t been able to win a race in the past 4 and he desperately needs to earn a victory soon. If he can clinch one more victory in the final 3 races he may be able to wrap up the F1 Drivers Championship title.
Bet on Mark Webber at 11/10
Both Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso have a chance at catching Webber heading into the final races of the 2010 season. Vettel and Alonso are having great seasons and if one of them can win 2 of the 3 races we might have a really close battle. That’s not going to be easy, but it’s possible. With the current odds there isn’t much value in taking these two drivers though and unless you feel strongly about one of them winning I wouldn’t bet on either of them.
Lewis Hamilton has been struggling as of late and hasn’t picked up many points in the past few races. He’s barely hanging onto a chance at winning the championship and the odds on him prove this fact.
Jenson Button is too far back to have much of a chance to win the Formula 1 Drivers Championship and I wouldn’t bet on him either. Button won last year, but he doesn’t look like his team isn’t as strong this season and I can’t see him pulling off a miracle comeback with only 3 races left to go.
F1 Drivers Championship Futures Odds
• Mark Webber 11/10
• Fernando Alonso 11/4
• Sebastian Vettel 5/2
• Lewis Hamilton 20/1
• Jenson Button 40/1
There is no doubt that the race for the F1 Drivers Championship is still heating up and we probably won’t know who’s going to win until the final race of the season. My money is on Mark Webber to hang onto the championship, as I can’t see him collapsing in these final 3 races.
