NY Giants vs. San Francisco 49ers Over/Under Odds & Prediction
The 49ers – Giants over/under has been bouncing back & forth between 41.5 and 42. Just like the Giants – 49ers point spread, this is a tough one to call. If both defenses play they way they’re capable, this could be a low scoring game. With that said, we could see some defensive scoring as well, and one pick-6 could be the difference that makes it go over. I’m expecting the San Francisco 49ers to score 20-24 points, and the Giants to put up 17-21. This gives us a range of 37 to 45 points, and the Giants vs. 49ers over/under almost smack in the middle.
Although there is a tiny edge for the under based on my scoring range, I’m going with the over. Both teams are capable of big plays, and both defenses are capable of creating points off of turnovers. The San Francisco 49ers defense picked off 23 passes during the regular season, and the NY Giants picked off 20. The Niners also caused 15 fumbles, and the Giants caused 11.
I expect this game to start slow, being a defensive battle throughout the first half. I also expect both teams to open up their offenses in the second half, and 49ers QB Alex Smith to throw the ball more often. We should start getting the points we need later in the game, and we could win the over in the final seconds.
This game looks like a nail-biter, but I suspect we’ll see some big plays as the defenses begin to wear down. Adrenaline will be high for both defenses, but some players could crash as well. One mistake could be all we need.
