Lakers & Heat Regular Season Win Total Betting Odds
With just about a month until the beginning of the 2010-2011 NBA basketball season it’s time to place your bets on regular season win totals before it’s too late. This year the two top teams are expected to be the Miami Heat from the Eastern Conference and the Los Angeles Lakers from the Western Conference. Most online sports betting sites have set the regular season win totals for both of these teams extremely high, but we’re going to walk you through the best bet on both teams.
Miami Heat Regular Season Win Total
Over/Under – 63.5 Wins
The Miami Heat have been the talk of the entire NBA this off-season due to the signing of Chris Bosh and Lebron James. They also managed to resign Dwayne Wade and Udonis Haslem, both of whom will play important roles this season. To help the big three the Heat also have Mario Chalmers, Mike Miller, Jamaal Magloire, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Juwan Howard and Eddie House. They managed to sign a lot of veterans in the off-season to compliment their young superstars. There isn’t going too be much chemistry to start off the season, but the Miami Heat players expect to win everything this season.
With a 63.5 regular season win total set as of right now it’s difficult to bet on the over, but I think it’s possible. With James, Wade and Bosh in the starting line-up I can only imagine that they’ll win the majority of their games this season. If they secure a playoff spot and sit their superstars at the end of the season it may cause this wager to fall under the total. With the three superstars needing to prove themselves this season I’d wager on the Miami Heat winning over 63.5 games this season.

Los Angeles Lakers Regular Season Win Total
Over/Under – 58.5 Wins
Last season the LA Lakers won 57 games and the season before that they managed to win 65 games. If they can continue on the same pace they should be able to surpass the regular season win total of 58.5 wins. I’m sure the Lakers are going to want to do their best to keep pace with the Miami Heat this season and due to this I’m betting the over. Kobe Bryant isn’t going to want to be shown up by the younger superstars in the league and he’ll have his team ready to play from game one.
Beyond Bryant, the Lakers also have plenty of solid, experienced players on their roster. These include Derek Fisher, Ron Artest, Andrew Bynum, Shannon Brown, Lamar Odom, Sasha Vujacic, Pau Gasol, Matt Barnes and Steve Blake. Apart from all of the individual talent, the Lakers have also been together for years now and have a lot of team chemistry. I feel much more confident in betting the over on the Lakers regular season win total then I do betting the over on the Miami Heat. They’ve proven in the past few seasons that they can win more then 58.5 games in a single season. If Bryant, Bynum and Gasol can stay healthy for the majority of the season, 59+ wins should be very do-able.
I expect the Eastern Conference and Western Conference to be won in a landslide this season in the NBA. The Heat should easily win the East while the Lakers should win the West. If you don’t want to wager on the regular season win totals then you may want to bet on these teams to win their respective conference.
