Miami Heat vs NY Knicks Betting Line
Two teams fresh off of key wins to snap losing streaks will battle for an important ‘W’ on Thursday night when the New York Knicks (23-21) host the Miami Heat (31-13) at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks broke a six game losing skid on Monday, defeating the Washington Wizards 115-106. Meanwhile, the Heat had lost four in a row before blowing out Toronto 120-103 last Saturday. The Heat have the better record, but the Knicks are at home. This should be a great game, and it will be televised nationally on TNT. Tip-off is set for 8pm EST.

Miami Heat at New York Knicks NBA Preview
New York Knicks
The question of whether this game score tops 100 points per team will likely be answered in the first quarter. New York has been getting off to good starts at home this year, mostly on the shooting of Amare Stoudemire. The power forward is averaging 26.1 points per game for New York, and poured in 30 points with nine boards in Monday’s win over Washington.
Point guard Ray Felton, who’s been dishing almost nine assists per game while scoring 17 PPG, had 15 assists on Monday. Forward Wilson Chandler averages 17.1 while small forward Danilo Gallinari scores 15.5 per game. But New York’s defense lets them down in most games as the Knicks rank 27th in the NBA in points allowed; a far cry from the Patrick Ewing days almost 15 years ago. Landry Fields starts at shooting guard and averages a mere 9.8 PPG, but does the job on the glass gathering 7.1 rebounds per game.
With defending not a Knick strong suit, watch Lebron James. He went off for 38 against Toronto on Saturday, so he could go for big numbers Thursday night. James and Miami were the media darlings to rule the east this year, but haven’t been healthy enough to be consistent. Boston’s loss to Washington over the weekend was a big help to the Heat, who hope to claim the top spot and home court advantage during the playoffs. As it stands now, Boston is 34-10, 3 games better than Miami, along with Chicago, Atlanta, and Orlando all within 5.5 games of the Celtics.
Miami Heat
The Miami Heat play four of their next six games on the road, including Thursday’s game against the Knicks. LeBron James is playing his best basketball of the season, averaging 25.9 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 7.2 APG for the 2010 – 2011 NBA season.
Dwayne Wade, who is averaging 25.1 PPG, 6.5 RPG, and 4.1 APG has been suffering from migraines, but expects to play on Thursday.
Chris Bosh, the team leader in rebounding (8.2 RPG), has been injured since January 15, missing Monday night’s win. The big three are getting help from guard Eddie House but he’s questionable on Thursday with an ankle sprain. The point guard position has been a problem spot for Miami and new head coach Erik Spoelstra has inserted third year player Mario Chalmers into the starting role, replacing veteran Carlos Arroyo.
Miami Heat vs New York Knicks Free Pick – January 27th
The Miami Heat did well in their last show in the Big Apple, beating the Knicks by eight. The Knicks looked to be a top player in the east, but the recent streak of losses has pushed them back to mediocrity. Look for that to continue.
Bottom line: Miami can play defense, New York can’t. Heat win by 5+. Once again, we’ll update this post with the latest betting lines as they change.

After Wednesday’s gut-wrenching loss to Boston, the New York Knicks host Lebron James and the Miami Heat on Friday night. The game is scheduled for 7 pm ET at Madison Square Garden, and Sportsbook.com has Miami favored by 5 points. This should be another fun game to watch, and is being televised nationally on ESPN.
The question of whether Amare Stoudamire can score 30+ points for the Knicks in ten straight games will be answered Friday night. His last second shot did not beat the buzzer or the Celtics but the lanky center has been on-fire. He jacked the C’s for 39 Wednesday but didn’t get enough help to overcome a hot shooting Celtics team.

The Knicks will need consistency from point guard Ray Felton who has been dishing almost nine assists a game. His 14 assist game against Boston was huge but can he follow it when facing the defense of Dwayne Wade. Power forward Wilson Chandler averages 17.3 while small forward Danilo Gallinari scores almost 16 points but New York’s defense let them down against Boston. Defending the Big Three is never easy and Paul Pierce killed New York setting the stage for Lebron James to go for big numbers Friday night.
The buzz on the Manhattan streets was huge Wednesday but Friday when the South Beach boys come a calling, The Garden will be rocking. Spike Lee will sit down for less than 20 minutes all game…take the under on that bet. James is rolling now but the improved play from Chris Bosh knocking down 18 points in the last three games has helped Miami to live up to its reputation. But for Miami, D-Wade rules the hardwood. The point guard has been hot on offense averaging 25.5 PPG and playing strong defense. He has been healthy as well. The focus the entire league this season has been LeBron James. New York made an off-season bid for his services but the former Cav chose the Beach over Broadway. Expect some razzing from the New York fans but expect “The King” to go for 25 points, 6 board and 7 assists automatic.

The Heat arrive in the Big Apple fresh off a win over the Cavaliers. With The Garden becoming significant in basketball again, look for the marquis players to try to steal the spotlight. So who is the second best team in the East after Boston? It is Miami on paper and on Friday it is Miami on the floor. The Heat will top the Knicks but look for a close game.
