NCAA College Football SEC Futures
The NCAA NCAA College Football betting season is fast approaching and now is the time to take a look at some of the future wagers. In this article I’m going to take a look at two different SEC teams and tell you why they should go over their posted regular season win total. The SEC is always one of the toughest conferences to play in recently and this year it isn’t going to get any easier for the teams in this conference.
I expect Alabama to be able to win the conference championship again this year although they’re going to have some very close competition and they can’t afford too lose. Most experts expect the Crimson Tide to go undefeated this season, but they definitely have some tough games against teams like Penn State, Arkansas, Florida and Auburn. If Alabama loses any of these games then it’s going to leave the door wide open for Florida, Arkansas or Auburn to take control of the SEC.

Although I think the Crimson Tide are going to win the SEC this season there isn’t much value in taking them at +120 odds. Instead of needing Alabama to win the conference, I’m going to wager on the over/under on a couple SEC teams regular season win totals.
Arkansas Over 8.5 Wins +110
Arkansas not only has a chance to surpass 8.5 wins this season, but they may also compete for the SEC Championship. The squad is returning 18 players from the starting roster, which gives them plenty of experience and chemistry. Ryan Mallet is a superstar QB and going to be an important factor in the success of Arkansas this season. He is easily the team’s MVP and if he doesn’t perform then neither will the team.
The beginning of the season is going to be important for the Razorbacks. In the first 2 weeks they have easy games against LA Monroe and Tennessee Tech that they need to win to start to the season off 2-0. In the 3rd week Arkansas plays against Georgia, which will be the first real challenge for the team. I expect them to lose against Alabama in week 4, but I hope Arkansas can start the season off 3-1 or at worst 2-2.
Arkansas will have 8 games left and only need 6-7 more wins if they start the season off right. They have 6 games that they should win out of their 8 remaining games, but they’re also going to need to beat either LSU or Auburn.
Southern Carolina Over 7 Wins -125
I expect this bet to win, but I also like the fact I can push with 7 wins from the Gamecocks. Last season the team finished with a 7-6 record, but they also dealt with a lot of injuries. With a lot of players back from injury it should be interesting to see if Carolina can become a contender in the SEC. The team has 17 returning players and coach Steve Spurrier should have the team ready to play.
Stephen Garcia is going to need to steal a couple games for the Gamecocks this season in order to win more then 8 games, but they definitely have a good chance. The offense wasn’t great last year, but South Carolina did have the 3rd best defense in the league. If they can continue their dominance on defense this season and score a few more points a game then the Gamecocks should fly by the low number of 7 wins.
South Carolina does have a difficult schedule in front of them, as they need to play against teams like Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, Auburn and Clemson. If the Gamecocks can win their other 7 games this season then they’ll already earn a push for us on this wager, but if they can steal one of the games above from the opposition then they should win this futures wager.
