Saints Vs. Packers Week 1 Matchup
The last time the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers met was back in 2008. The Saints handed the Packers a 51-29 whooping, something we don’t expect this time around. The 2011 Super Bowl Champions will be looking to have a good start to the 2011 – 2012 NFL season, and a win over the Saints in week 1 would head them in the right direction.
The New Orleans Saints will bring a powerful offense to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, but we expect the Packers to take this game by something in the 7-8 points range. The Packers are at home, the 2011 Super Bowl Champs, and obviously favored to win. Whatever happens, this should be one of the more exciting games during week 1 of the 2011 – 2012 NFL football season.

The trick on picking the over/under for this game will come down to rust. If the Packers defense is ready to play at 100%, the under looks good here. If they aren’t, the Saints offense has enough weapons to put points on the board. I’m also curious to see how the Packers follow up their Super Bowl win last year, and see what effect it has on the team. How bad do they want it in 2011? Are they still riding high from last year, or are they still hungry?
Unfortunately, preseason games won’t tell us much of anything, but I’m banking on the defensive player mentality. Defensive players want to crush guys no matter what the situation. So, if I was betting the Packers vs. Saints over/under right now, I’d be taking the under – expecting the Packers defense to keep the Saints at bay.
