Both of these teams won their Conference Championship games by just three points, and they appear to be a closer matchup than the current lines are showing. Most experts think this should be a pick’em game, and we do as well.

Latest Giants Patriots Betting Lines

As you can see in the odds table above, the New York Giants are still underdogs for Super Bowl 46. Since most NFL experts and professional handicappers think this is a closer game than this, we’re theoretically seeing value on the Giants right now. Personally, I’m also predicting a Giants win, so I love getting the extra points.

The Giants Patriots line is shaded because more casual bettors are picking the Patriots to win. To create even betting on both teams, the Giants are getting points they probably shouldn’t be getting. This is why the Giants betting lines are looking so attractive right now. The same can be said for the money line, getting up to +122 for the Giants. For the Pat’s, the money line is as low as -141. For anyone who thinks this game is a pick’em, it’s easy to see where our bets should be going.

Patriots vs. Giants Super Bowl Point Spread

Although we can get +3 on the point spread at JustBet, we have to pay -120 for it. Since I think the Giants are going to win the game, I prefer +2.5 (-105) at BetOnline instead. If I thought the Giants would lose a close game, I’d take the 3 points and pay the extra juice.

For the Patriots Giants point spread, it comes down to whether you want to cover a field goal or not. For example, I’m picking the NY Giants to win the game, so I prefer paying -105 and getting 2 1/2 points instead of paying -120 for 3 points. If you think the Patriots will win by more than three points, you should take them at -3 (Even) at JustBet. If they win by exactly three points, you’ll get a push. If you take them -2.5 (-115) at BetOnline, a three point win is winning bet, but you’re paying -115 versus +100 for the difference of a win or a push.

Giants Patriots Money Line

Of course everything said above also applies to the Giants Patriots money line. If you’re a casual bettor looking to have some fun betting on this game, pick whoever you like. For the Patriots Giants over/under, I’m going with the under. The main reason I’m taking the under is because I’m predicting the New York Giants to win the game. If the Giants win, I expect a lower scoring game than if the Patriots win. With the current Giants/Patriots over under at 54 points, this is almost smack-dab in the middle of my expected range, making this a tough call. For me it comes down to the team I’ve predicted to win, so I’m taking the under of 54 (-110) at BetOnline.com.

Update: It’s now late on Friday night and the Giants Patriots line hasn’t hardly budged since it opened. Although most of the betting will come in over the weekend, the line has been up for almost two weeks now. At this point we’ve seen the point spread come down a bit after opening at 3 1/2 points. The money line has bounced around a little bit, but nothing significant yet. The over/under opened at 55, but it’s been stuck between 53.5 and 54 for about a week now.

One of the best games of week 9, the New York Giants (5-2) are on the road to play the New England Patriots (5-2). We expect this game to be more interesting than the current point spread suggests, and both teams have some things they need to prove.

New England Patriots vs. New York Giants Analysis & Prediction

Giants QB Eli Manning is having an excellent 2011 – 2012 season, with the 3rd best passer rating in the NFL (102.1), 13 TD’s and 5 INT’s. He’s also completing 64.7% of his passes, good for 5th in the NFL. Tom Brady is 2nd in the NFL in passer rating, and there isn’t much we can tell you that you don’t already know.

The Giants passing game is one of the best in the NFL, and the Patriots defensive weakness. If Manning can get his passing game going, they could easily cover the spread and make this a closer game. The Giants have the 11th ranked passing defense in the league, and will need their D to put pressure on Brady.

New York Giants vs. New England Patriots Point Spread

I’m expecting a game in the area of 31-24 for a Patriots win, so I’m taking the Giants +9 (-110) at Bovada. Keep an eye on the spread at BetOnline as well, because we’ll definitely see movement between now and game time.

In fact, I really like +9 for the Giants. I could be wrong about this and a Patriots blowout is always possible. However, I think the Giants cover this spread 6-7 out of ten times. So, if you’re taking the Giants and the points, get your bets in now before they go in the wrong direction.

Patriots vs. Giants Money Line

Although I expect the Patriots to win this game, I wouldn’t argue with anyone taking the Giants +395 at BetOnline. I really expect the point spread to get closer to +7.5 or +8 as we get closer to Sunday, which would bring us in the range of +340 if I’m right. At +395, I see some value here.

However, I can’t see taking the Patriots -490 against the Giants. I know they’re at home and difficult to beat there, but the Giants have a chance in this one. If you’re looking to bet on the Patriots money line, wait until we closer to game time. I suspect we’ll see something in the neighborhood of -410 to -430.

Giants vs. Patriots Total (Over/Under) Betting Odds

The Giants vs. Patriots over/under is 51 right now, but we can get -110 on the under at BetOnline, and -105 on the over at Bovada.

Predicting a final score of 31-24, I’m taking the over at Bodog. I don’t see this one going under, and the over on this game is one of my favorite bets for week 9. One way or another, this is going over 51.

I’ve already place my bet on the Giants +9 (-110) at Bovada, and on the over at 51 (-105) at Bovada as well.

If you want to bet on the Patriots, I recommend waiting until we get closer to game time. I suspect the point spread to tighten up, and the money line to get better as well. I won’t bet on the money line in this game, not seeing enough value on either side.
