The 2010 Ryder Cup starts this Friday and will be held at the Twenty Ten Course in Newport, Wales. This is one of the most exciting events of the year in golf and even casual fans of the sport will enjoy the action this weekend. The Ryder Cup is held every two years and it was last held in 2008, with the United States team walking away with the victory. Let’s take a look at the players on both teams quickly and then we’ll move into the Ryder Cup odds and predictions.

Ryder Cup Predictions
This year’s Ryder Cup could go either way and I’ll be focusing most of my time on individual match-ups although I’m throwing a small wager down on the Americans as a healthy underdog. The team does have a few question marks, but there is no doubt that Team USA has more upside then the European team. The Europeans have a strong and consistent line-up, but we know what to expect from them this weekend.
For the Americans to have success this weekend in Wales they’re going to need Kuchar and Johnson on fire and winning their match-ups. These two players have had incredible seasons and will try and finish it off with a Ryder Cup victory. Neither player has any experience in the Ryder Cup, but as long as they stick to their game they’ll do fine. Tiger Woods was excited to be picked this year and many people didn’t think he’d be picked.
The European is extremely strong and will be led by Harrington, Westwood, Poulter and McIlroy. The European Team has 4 of the top 10 golfers in the world on their team and most of the team has experience in the Ryder Cup already. Most of the public has been betting on the Europeans due to the home advantage, but I can’t see the value in betting them at –195. If you’re thinking about betting the Europeans then you may want to wager on a point spread to lower the juice.
The Ryder Cup is going to keep me busy all weekend, but I definitely expect to make some money. Make sure you check out the match-up wagers this weekend as well, as they can be the most profitable bets. I’ll be looking at the match-ups with Kuchar, Poulter, Johnson and Westwood this weekend, as I feel like these 4 golfers with play well for their countries.
