Steelers vs. Seahawks Analysis & Prediction
This week 2 game for the Seahawks will be tough – on the road in Pittsburgh. Even worse, the Steelers took a whooping from the Ravens in week 1, meaning they’ll be looking to kick some ass of their own in week 2. An inspired Steelers team spells bad things for the Seahawks, who are 14.5 point underdogs at BetOnline at the time of this writing.
The Seahawks lost their week 1 game to the San Francisco 49ers 33-17. The stats from that game are pitiful on both ends, but the difference in the game came down to 2 TD’s by Ted Ginn Jr. Ginn Jr ran back a kickoff for a 102 yard TD, then a 55 yard punt return, also for a TD. David Akers also recorded 4 field goals. Overall, it was an ugly game that doesn’t build any confidence for Seahawks fans.
Pittsburgh had a tough road game against the Ravens in week 1, getting clobbered 35-7. The Steelers had a great rushing attack last season, led by Rashard Mendenhall. Inexplicably, the Steelers only ran the ball 16 times against the Ravens, while Roethlisberger completed 22 of 41, with 3 INT’s and 1 TD. Look for the Steelers to get back to the ground & pound in this game against the Seahawks, and a very different result.
Seattle will struggle against the run and pass as long as the Steelers keep the Seahawks defense guessing. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple deep balls converted by the young Steelers WR corps in this game either. Head coach Mike Tomlin will right the ship, and the Steelers should win this one easily. The problem is, we have to give up 14.5 points on the spread, or take a horrible money line. Right now, the Steelers money line is -870 at BetOnline – giving us no value at all. If you like the Seahawks to win outright, you’re on drugs, you can get them at +660 at BetOnline.
Personally, I’m going to wait and see if this spread tightens up. 14.5 is too many to give up, but I don’t have enough faith in the Seahawks to cover, even with 14.5 points. Instead, I’ll wait to see if this spread comes down to 10 or 11 points.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Point Spread
The Pittsburgh Steelers are huge favorites coming into this week 2 game. At the time this article is being written, the point spread is Steelers -14.5 (-110) at BetOnline, or Seahawks +15 (-110) at Bodog.
As mentioned above, I don’t like giving up 14.5 on this game, yet I also have little faith in the Seahawks to keep it close. I’ll wait until we get closer to game time before making an official pick, and I’ll update this post at that time. Best Steelers vs. Seahawks Money Line Odds
Pittsburgh shouldn’t have a problem beating the Seahawks, so the money line should be an easy win. However, the Steelers money line is -870 right now – too poor to justify a bet. We’ll keep an eye on the money line in this game, and update this article if we change our minds.
If you think the Steelers will take the day off, you can get the Seahawks +660 at BetOnline. I don’t see how the Seahawks can win this game outright, but stranger things have happened.
Seahawks vs. Steelers Total (Over/Under) Betting Odds
The over/under is 38.5 (-110) at BetOnline right now. The Seahawks shouldn’t score that many points against the Steelers defense and Pittsburgh never seems to rack up the points when they should. I’ll be taking the under on this game, expecting a score in the range of 21-7 to 24-13.
