South Florida vs. California Betting Lines
In the final play-in game we have the #12 seed South Florida Bulls playing #12 seed California Golden Bears. The game is going to be played this Wednesday at 9:10pm ET and the winner will go on to play the Temple Owls in the 2nd round. This should be the best game of the four play-in games, so if you want some action before Thursday this is the game to bet on. The game will be televised on TruTV, which is something like channel 8463.

Bet on USF vs. Cal at BetOnline.com
The USF vs. Cal over/under is the lowest of all games scheduled on Tuesday or Wednesday. At just 115 points, I expect the public to bet the over and push this to 117 or more before game time. If you like the over, 115 looks good right now. If you like the under, I’d wait until closer to game time before placing my bet. South Florida Bulls (USF) vs. California Golden Bears (CAL) Prediction
The South Florida Bulls (20-13) and California Golden Bears (24-9) meet in the final play-in game. This should be a great game and a point spread of 2.5 looks right to me. South Florida struggled this season, but I think they can turn things around and can do a bit of damage in the NCAA tournament this month.
USF finished the year with an RPI rank of 52 and SOS of 27, which is pretty impressive. California has an RPI rank of 36, but an unimpressive SOS of 84. The Pac-12 was very weak this year and the Golden Bears were very uninspiring. California had a big win over Stanford recently in the quarter-finals of the Pac-12, but other than that the Golden Bears haven’t done much.
Cal is led by two seniors including Jorge Gutierrez and Harper Kamp. Gutierrez averages 13.1 PPG, but he’ll need to have a game like he did against Stanford when he scored 22 points if he wants to help his team advance. USF lost 57-53 to Notre Dame in OT in the Big East quarter-finals last week, and the team has impressive wins over some decent Big East teams.
California has the better offense in this game (71.7 PPG), but USF is more sound defensively. The Bulls only give up an average of 56.9 PPG and they held some good teams to under 60 this year – including Louisville and Syracuse. The betting line on this game is +2.5 for the Bulls, but I personally don’t see value on the point spread (yet).
If I can get USF at +3 or +4 (-110) on Thursday I may jump on the spread, but for now I see the most value on the money line and have loaded up on USF +125 at BetOnline.com.
